Sky ArtsPRS for Music sponsors Songbook on Sky Arts

Thursday 5 February sees the start of Sky Arts' second series of Songbook and once again PRS for Music is sponsoring the show. The series aims to celebrate the art of song writing and discover how some of the most famous songs of our times came to be written. Each show examines the inspiration behind a writers work and also looks at how famous songs sound when performed 'unplugged' by the composer themselves.

The launch programme features Pulp front man Jarvis Cocker and future shows will focus on the likes of Duran Duran, Albert Hammond, Bernard Sumner, Ian Broudie and Donovan.

In advance of the show the Guardian published an article on Jarvis Cocker and his involvement in Songbook. Read the article here.

The show is gaining good reviews and was several 'pick of the days' in the weekend supplements. The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, The Guardian Guide, The Daily Mail, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Observer and the Mail On Sunday's Live Night & Day all advised readers to tune in.

Songbook is broadcast every Thursday at 8pm on Sky Arts Channel, available on: Sky channel 256, Virgin Media channel 284 and Tiscali TV channel 114.
