PRS Outstanding Contribution to British Music: Norman Cook
Songwriter, producer, video maker and superstar DJ, Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim has won the PRS Outstanding Contribution to British Music award at today's Ivor Novello Awards. In an interview with M magazine Cook said of his award: ‘It’s proper, it’s grown up, I literally had to ask if they had the right person.’
Originally a member of The Housemartins, Cook released his debut album, Better Living Through Chemistry in 1996 and re-established himself as a dance artist.
He has had several Number one hits including 1998's You've Come A Long Way, Baby and Praise You. Both were Cook's breakthrough into the mainstream.
Earlier this year, Cook played to an audience of over 20,000 fans on Brighton's seafront and he has recently completed a tour of Brazil.
PRS has sponsored the awards since 1974 which is one of the longest-running continuous music sponsorships in the world.
