Musicians work on classical remix
An album of classic remixes entitled Cortical Songs is to be released on 21 July 2008 and will include a reworking of a piece written by recent winners of the PRS Foundation New Music award Nick Ryan and John Matthias.
Following in bandmate Jonny Greenwood's classical footsteps (Greenwood wrote the much acclaimed score for Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood), Radiohead's Thom Yorke is one of the collaborators on the project and will create a 'remix' of a string ensemble and violin piece written by Matthias and Ryan.
Other musicians who have collaborated on the project include Gabriel Prokofiev (grandson of celebrated Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev), Simon Tong of Gorillaz fame and the Beta Band's John Maclean.
