Ian Brown working on new material

'Madchester' icon Ian Brown has revealed that he is working on material for a new album.

The former Stone Roses frontman has confirmed that he has been writing new material in between playing festival dates throughout the summer and foresees a Spring 2009 release for what will be his sixth solo studio album.

Brown found fame with Manchester band The Stone Roses throughout the '80s and '90s has forged a successful solo career since they split in 1996.
