The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, in association with PRS for Music, presented the Gold Badge Awards yesterday on 28 October 2009 at the Park Lane Hotel in London.
The awards recognise the work of men and women who have made a special contribution to Britain’s music and entertainment industry, and among this year’s winners were singers and songwriters, a music copyist, a producer, a concert promoter and a violinist.
Among those honoured were soul singer Ruby Turner, The Shadows guitarist Hank Marvin, multi-talented singer and composer Robert Wyatt and songwriters Bill Martin and Phil Coulter.
Speaking at the awards, Tom Bradley, Chairman said: ‘We are all very proud to once again sponsor the Gold Badge Awards. The awards celebrate the achievements of the men and women at the heart of our music business without whom the fans could simply never get to hear, let alone have the opportunity to own, such great songs and compositions.’
