Young musician Ellie Goulding has come top of the BBC's Sound of 2010 list. The singer-songwriter recently became a PRS for Music member.
The Sound of 2010 list is distilled from 165 music critics, broadcasters and bloggers. Previous winners have included Little Boots (2009), Adele (2008), Mika (2007) and Corinne Bailey Rae (2006).
Speaking to the BBC, the 22 year-old from Herefordshire said: "I didn't expect to get anywhere a few years ago. I didn't even expect to have a record deal, let alone be put in such a prestigious thing, so I'm very happy."
Goulding has won praise for her exciting fusions of acoustic guitar with electronica and futuristic dance beats.
