Eleanor Rigby identified

An accounts register which has apparently been signed by Eleanor Rigby is to be sold at auction.

The document was given to Anne Mawson of the Sunbeams Music Trust by Sir Paul McCartney in 1990 after she asked him for a charitable donation of £500,000 towards the charity.

McCartney has never revealed the full inspiration behind the 1966 hit Eleanor Rigby but the document suggests that she was a scullery maid at Liverpool's City Hospital.
