Chris De Burgh to play historic Iran gig

PRS member Chris De Burgh is to play a groundbreaking concert in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Irish-born singer has a devoted following in Iran and will perform with the Iranian band Arian at the 12,000-capacity Azadi Indoor Stadium in Tehran in November 2008.

The gig marks the first time since the 1979 Iranian revolution that a Western star has performed alongside an Iranian pop band in Iran.  Western pop songs with lyrics are banned in the Middle Eastern state.
