Waverly Care is launching a nationwide Christmas Carol writing competition in January 2010. Composer Bob Chilcott will be lending his guidance to the contest.
The competition will be open to the UK’s new and established composers. Competitors will be invited to submit a carol of up to four minutes duration for performance by SATB choir.
A shortlist of six carols will be performed by Edinburgh-based choir, Cadenza, at a concert at St Cuthbert’s Church in Edinburgh on Saturday 27 November. The winning carol will be announced at the concert, the winning composer will receive a trophy and a cheque for £500.
Waverley Care is a Scottish charity that provides care and support to people living with HIV and/or Hepatitus C.
