Arctic Monkeys second album set for record sales
The Arctic Monkeys have sold 60,000 copies of their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare since its release yesterday.
Dozens of fans queued outside the HMV store in Sheffield High Street before midnight on Sunday determined to get a copy of the band's new album after it received rave reviews from music critics.
It’s expected that 250,000 copies will be sold this week which would make it the number one album, with the official chart to be announced on Sunday.
The group's song When The Sun Goes Down has been nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically at the 52nd Ivor Novello Awards sponsored by PRS (View the full nominations).
The Arctic Monkeys first album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not sold 363,735 copies in its first week, making it the fastest selling debut in UK chart history.
