Annie Lennox receives Award of Merit

Annie Lennox scooped the Award of Merit lifetime achievement award at the American Music Awards on Sunday 23 November 2008.

The 53-year-old former Eurythmics singer was presented with the award by Justin Timberlake.  She also performed her ballad Why at the Los Angeles ceremony.

In accepting the award Lennox said "I never thought that I would live to see the day that I would be 53 years old standing on the stage."
