Amazon to launch download service

Amazon is finalising plans to launch an online music store and is expected to offer music downloads without DRM.

Currently no date has been set for the store's launch but rumours suggest it could happen as early as next month.

The store is expected to sell music from EMI and several independent labels and will provide serious competition for Apple's iTunes service.
