Singer Al Martino, who scored the UK's first number one record with Here In My Heart, has died at the age of 82.
Here In My Heart was at the top spot when the New Musical Express chart was launched in November 1952. The song remained at number one for nine weeks - a feat beaten by only a handful of singles, including Umbrella by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z, Love Is All Around by Wet, Wet, Wet and Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams.
Here In My Heart remained Martino’s only UK number one but his other hits included Spanish Eyes, Can't Help Falling in Love and Volare.
