The Great Escape 2009
Date - 14 - 16 May 2009
The Great Escape organizes Europe’s largest music industry convention with 3,000 delegates descending on Brighton annually. TGE presents a varied seminar and talk programme for industry professionals, paired with targeted networking sessions, speed-meetings & parties. With over 300 of the world’s best new bands showcased alongside and a total attendance of 10,000, this this event is a major part of the Music industry calendar. This year’s dates are 14th, 15th and 16th May 2009. View the previous line-ups and Convention speakers.
The convention’s core program for delegates will take place at The Thistle Hotel on Brighton seafront and is broken into three sections; high level debates, mid-range panels plus a series of educational sessions for artists, which will take place in the festival’s new venue, The Artist Village.
PRS for Music’s own Will Page will be speaking at the convention about his extensive Long Tail work on Thursday 14th May 2009 and we are hosting our own interactive panel session 'Make it Happen' on Friday 15th May.
The official back stage area to The Great Escape, The Artists Village is a place where artists and new entrants to the music industry can meet, network and learn. Within this, The Great Escape will be running a schedule of educational panels, workshops and networking sessions, including PRS for Music's 'Make it Happen'. This will focus on practical advice for songwriters, artists, managers and labels in the context of today's music industry. Featuring a variety of experts from different fields, the seminar will be dealing with the topics the audience want covered and the questions they want answered - being interactive means this will not be a normal panel session.
