PRS to sponsor SXSW showcase

PRS will be supporting a special showcasing event at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas on March 15, hosted by Q Magazine and in association with Guitar Hero and Xtaster.

Designed to celebrate the best in new, upcoming British talent, the Q showcase event will headline with Brits winner Kate Nash, along with indie five-piece, The Pigeon Detectives.  In support will be Lightspeed Champion with a special guest appearance from DJ Akala.

The SXSW Music Conference and Festival is one of the largest and most influential music events in the industry’s calendar. It centres around five nights of music supplied by over 1,500 acts performing in more than 70 venues.

PRS will also be represented within the industry collective, British Music at SXSW, which will be taking over downtown Austin venue, Latitude 30, for the duration of the festival and renaming it the British Music Embassy. The venue will play host to all the UK regional showcases and, if you’re over there, you can’t miss us – the ‘Embassy’ will be located just off Sixth Street and painted red, white and blue.

Commenting on the PRS association with the Q showcase event, Myles Keller (Membership Development Director of PRS) said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with Q Magazine. PRS represents 45,000 songwriters and composers and this is an opportunity to highlight some of the very best of our new members on a global stage.’

The Q showcase will take place at Austin’s Driskill Hotel Mezzanine between 4pm-7pm on March 15 and is by invitation only.

Stopping off in New York, en route to SXSW, will be Rock Over London - the UK showcasing event featuring The Pigeon Detectives, Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong, Emmy The Great and Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip, who will all be performing at the Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge on March 11 before heading down to Austin.
