Almost Famous review

Almost FamousOn Wednesday 17th June PRS for Music and Curious Generation presented Almost Famous, a showcase of up and coming new acts alongside special guest Howard Jones. It was held at Madame Jo Jo's  and saw a mixture of fans, industry and PRS for Music members mingle together.

The line up saw Bright Light Bright Light take to the stage first, songwriter Rod Thomas has been described by Huw Stephen's at Radio 1 as "A one-man swoon machine", so imagine the impact with his full backing band!

Stars and Sons took to the stage next. Like Brighton's answer to Ben Fold's, they definitely got the crowd's attention.

Then an amazing acoustic set with pop icon Howard Jones. Howard played a mix of new songs and some of his biggest hits.

To top off the night Speech Debelle and her band got the audience dancing. The Times recently gave her album 5/5 calling her a "star in the making" and from the performance is was clear to see she is on the road to stardom.

Taylor Glasby from Disorder magazine also DJ'ed throughout the night.

It brought the Almost Famous acts and the established acts together for a night of fun and brand new music.
