Yahoo announces legal lyrics website

Yahoo has announced it will be launching a new website offering authorised lists of lyrics for many of the worlds most popular songs.

The website will include lyrics to 400,000 songs by 9,000 artists including the Beatles and U2, following a deal between Yahoo and nearly 100 US publishers.

‘Song lyrics are continually among the top 10 searches performed on major search engines’ said Craig Palmer, president of Gracenote, the digital media company offering the service in partnership with Yahoo.
