PRS for Music confirms YouTube, Spotify, Deezer and Rdio for The Great Escape Festival 2013

On Friday, 17 May, PRS for Music returns to The Great Escape for a fourth year running, with Making waves in digital, a line-up of cutting edge guests to debate the pros and cons of being an artist in today’s technology-driven environment.

The Guardian’s media and technology correspondent, Jemima Kiss moderates a panel comprising some of the most well-known industry players; Patrick Walker, Senior Director at YouTube (EMEA), Mark Foster, Managing Director at Deezer, Mark Williamson, Director of Artist Services at Spotify and Stefan Baumschlager, Head of European Partnerships at Rdio.

How can songwriters build awareness and generate revenue? When should label managers start using buy buttons, widgets and wave streams? How can an artist transform their views online from a few to thousands? To answer these questions, PRS for Music presents Making waves in digital: The marketing value of digital services on Friday, 17 May at 3pm in The Old Courtroom, Brighton.

The ever popular PRS for Music Make it Happen panel returns, taking place at 4pm in The Old Courtroom. The session brings together Sarah Lewin, Digital Manager at Sony Music, Isla Angus, Booking Agent at Nomanis, Alex Martin, Manager at Crown Talent and Eric McLellan, A&R at Sire/Warners to offer frank advice to those who want to move their music career or business to the next level. The session features The DuBarrys and Astro-Physics based at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) who will step in as real life case studies looking for some practical pointers.

The sessions are followed by a PRS for Music party in the Brighton Dome Bar that evening from 5-6pm, where delegates can join the team and speakers for a complimentary drink and chance to network.

Myles Keller, Head of Membership Development PRS for Music commented: “The Great Escape has gone from strength to strength over the years - the conference is forward thinking and the showcases are an A&R’s dream. PRS for Music’s Making waves in digital panel features Spotify, YouTube, Deezer and Rdio - among the strongest, most identifiable brands in the world of online music. For the first time we are thrilled to work with Brighton Institute of Modern Music, one of the most respected colleges in the country from which their talent will be pitched to agents, managers and labels in our Make it happen session. Whether you are running a label, scouting for talent, or are an aspiring musician The Great Escape is unmissable.”
