PRS for Music appoints John Hywel Morris new Senior Membership Development Manager, Wales

25 June 2013

PRS for Music today confirmed the appointment of John Hywel Morris to the position of Senior Membership Development Manager, Wales.

John has been with PRS for Music for nineteen years and the new appointment is a promotion from his previous role as Welsh Membership Development Consultant. John has demonstrated enormous commitment to improving the efficiency and accuracy of royalty collections to Welsh members.  John was also fundamental in securing the first joint-licensing venture between MCPS and PPL.

A musician himself, John will be returning to Wales where the role will be based to support PRS for Music members most effectively, while working with the wider industry to develop new songwriting talent.

Mark Lawrence Director of Membership at PRS for Music commented: “John understands the songwriting process, has a deep knowledge of the Welsh music industry and is an expert in the field of music licensing.  He also cares passionately about Welsh composers, songwriters and publishers and their repertoire.  We conducted a rigorous recruitment search both internally and externally, and John’s knowledge was unsurpassed so he was a natural fit for the role.  We are excited at the new opportunities this role will bring.”

PRS for Music yn penodi  John Hywel Morris i swydd Uwch Reolwr Datblygu Aelodaeth, Cymru

I'w ryddhau 25 Mehefin, 2013: Cadarnhaodd PRS for Music heddiw benodiad John Hywel Morris i swydd Uwch Reolwr Datblygu Aelodaeth, Cymru.

Mae John Hywel wedi bod gyda PRS for Music am bedair blynedd ar bymtheg ac mae’r penodiad newydd hwn yn  ddyrchafiad o'i rôl flaenorol fel Ymgynghorydd Datblygu Aelodaeth Cymru. Mae John Hywel wedi dangos ymrwymiad mawr i wella effeithlonrwydd a chywirdeb casgliadau breindal i aelodau Cymreig. Roedd John Hywel hefyd yn hanfodol i sicrhau'r fenter cyd-drwyddedu cyntaf rhwng MCPS a'r PPL.

Yn gerddor ei hun, bydd John Hywel yn dychwelyd i Gymru, lle bydd y rôl yn cael ei leoli i gefnogi aelodau PRS for Music yn fwyaf effeithiol, tra’n gweithio gyda'r diwydiant ehangach i ddatblygu talent cyfansoddi newydd.

Dywedodd Cyfarwyddwr Aelodaeth PRS for Music Mark Lawrence: "Mae John Hywel yn deall y broses gyfansoddi, mae ganddo wybodaeth ddofn o'r diwydiant cerddoriaeth Gymreig ac yn arbenigwr yn y maes trwyddedu cerddoriaeth. Hefyd mae ei ofal am gyfansoddwyr a chyhoeddwyr Cymreig a'u repertoire yn drylwyr. Cynhaliwyd ymchwiliad recriwtio trwyadl yn fewnol ac yn allanol. Roedd gwybodaeth John Hywel heb ei ail, ac yr oedd yn gweddu yn naturiol i’r swydd. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at y cyfleoedd newydd a ddaw gyda’r penodiad hwn. "
