SUPPORTS BRITISH COPYRIGHT COUNCIL WIPO COURSE

PRS for Music, the organisation that represents the rights of 85,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers, is to host two dedicated events to support the British Copyright Council (BCC) and World Intellectual Property Organisation’s (WIPO) annual London course in Copyright and Related Rights.

The BCC WIPO training course takes place between October 31st and November 11th and is organised by the BCC on behalf of WIPO, in association with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

PRS for Music will be hosting the opening drinks reception on October 31st and has invited guests from Government, industry stakeholders and IPO officials to meet the 20 delegates from Governments including Pakistan, China, Argentina and Jamaica.

On 2nd November, as part of the course, PRS for Music will be hosting a series of panel discussions, covering topics such as an introduction to the rights managed by PRS for Music, the principles of tariff setting for copyright licences, the activities of the PPS team and Broadcast and Online, and the essential role of distribution policies and data to support effective rights management.

Frances Lowe, Head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs said: “We are delighted to host the visit by delegates on the WIPO course. Music is enjoyed in every country of the world and we are honoured to contribute to delegates’ understanding of models for good practice in collective management in a global framework and to share our experience and insight."
