The board of the Performing Right Society has announced that Guy Fletcher OBE has been appointed as Chairman of PRS and will take up the post from 1st January 2011.

Guy, who has been appointed for a 3-year term (2011-2014), takes over from Ellis Rich, who comes to the end of his 6-year tenure.

Guy has been a PRS member for thirty-six years and has served as a writer director for three years.  He is a highly respected voice internationally in the struggle for the maintenance of the value of copyright and tirelessly champions the cause of the creator in all industry matters. He was honoured with an OBE for services to British music in the Queen’s birthday honours list in 2005.

Guy Fletcher said “It’s a true honour to be appointed PRS Chairman. I look forward to continuing to serve the society in this new role and helping to lead the great work it does supporting songwriters, composers and music publishers, protecting and preserving the value of our members’ music.”

The PRS Board has also appointed Paulette Long as Deputy Chair (Publisher) for a 2 year term beginning on the 1st January 2011. Mick Leeson continues his second term as Deputy Chair (Writer).
