Beyoncé tops “most performed” love song chart
It’s the most romantic time of year again (apparently) so to give everyone a head start on playlists for the big day, PRS for Music has compiled the Top 10 Most Performed Love Songs (and for those planning a single’s night - the Top 10 Most Performed Singleton Songs) for Valentine’s.
PRS for Music, the organisation that collects royalties on behalf of its 75,000 song writing and composer members, has analysed its unique performance data to work out which songs have been used most across the UK over the past 12 months.
Coming in first place for “love songs” is Beyoncé and her beautiful track “Halo” which was a world-wide hit when it was released in 2009. The American diva beats British group Scouting For Girls and Taylor Swift into second and third place respectively. Leona Lewis who topped the PRS for Music chart last year slips into sixth place.

Topping the singleton chart is the unstoppable Lady GaGa with her track “Bad Romance” which reached number one in the UK chart when it was released in 2009. Beyoncé makes a second appearance in the charts with her single “Single Ladies” a track that oozes female empowerment and plenty of attitude – perhaps the ideal choice for a night in with the girls this February 14th.

Guy Fletcher, Chairman at PRS for Music, commented: “Red roses and a candlelit dinner all help impress a loved one but if you get the music wrong it can seriously dampen the atmosphere. Music is a key element to creating a romantic ambience so it makes sense to plan ahead. There are some great options in the PRS for Music chart and you can always mix it up with a few old classics – Barry White and Marvin Gaye are a couple of my personal favourites.”
