The Golden Fleece in Chelmsford voted best UK pub for music
The Golden Fleece in Chelmsford, Essex has successfully competed against pubs across the UK to win the Music Pub of the Year Award sponsored by PRS for Music.
Held annually, the Music Pub of the Year Award is one of several accolades given out during The Publican Awards to reward excellence in the licensed trade industry. The awards ceremony took place last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
The Music Pub of the Year Award recognises the pub that makes the most of music. The judges were looking for a real commitment that attracts new customers and keeps them entertained whilst at their venue. PRS for Music has proudly sponsored this award for 14 years.
The Golden Fleece won the judges vote for its genuine commitment to live music as well as having a consistently entertaining programme that includes a good mix of live bands with original material, acoustic cover nights as well as DJ nights.
Upon receiving this award, the owner of The Golden Fleece, Brett Sanders said: ‘Throughout the years The Golden Fleece has always been synonymous with music so I’m absolutely thrilled to win this award and be recognised by PRS for Music for our efforts. Music plays a massive part in the business and we’re grateful for the continued support of both the artists that perform and the customers that come and enjoy it.”
Keith Gilbert, Director of Public Performance Sales at PRS for Music said: “Congratulations to Brett on this well-deserved win. The Golden Fleece has really embraced music; from its extensive calendar of live gigs to its famous Rebay DJ nights – they have proved once again that music is good for business. Their dedication is an inspiration and we wish them every success in the future.”
