Latest press releases - Anti-Piracy Unit

13 December 2006

Internet Pirate Raided in West Norfolk

A house in West Norfolk was raided on 12 December following a lengthy investigation into an illegal website selling films, music and computer games.

The investigation was carried out by the MCPS Anti-Piracy Unit (APU) - the organisation that monitors the illegal use of the works of composers and songwriters.

An APU investigator was in attendance as a warrant was executed by Norfolk Trading Standards and Norfolk Police.

One man was questioned yesterday in relation to the raid. Items seized included two computers capable of duplicating CDs and DVDs and 1000 master discs.

A spokesperson for the MCPS Anti-Piracy Unit said: ‘Buying pirated music costs us all in the long run. Piracy takes money out of the economy – money that could otherwise be spent on improving our communities’.

Anybody with information regarding counterfeiting activities can phone the MCPS Anti-Piracy Unit on 0207 306 4053.
