Born in Glasgow, educated at Clyde College on the west coast of Scotland, I completed my apprenticeship as an electrician before moving to London with my band. I was a record buyer at Graham’s Record Bar in Exmouth Market before recording with Deram Records and going on tour in the UK and Europe. I later joined A&M Records as one of their first salesmen, then graduated to be their Northern Promotion Manager and ultimately their London Promotion Manager. I left A&M to become General Manager of Elektra/Asylum Records before forming my own promotion company, Showdown. My next move was to Rondor Music where I reached the position of Managing Director of the UK Company and Senior Vice President of the World outside the USA. Upon leaving Rondor I formed Hornall Brothers Music.
