HELP US IDENTIFY DANCE MUSIC MORE EFFECTIVELY

Please advise us of any pseudonyms you use and then when registering works ensure your writer share is assigned to that pseudonym rather than your own name.

Other advice when registering works information:

1. New works should be registered as soon as possible. Do you have tracks for sale on Beatport or iTunes or performed in clubs or on the radio? We need to know about these as soon as they become available so please register them quickly to ensure royalties can be invoiced and distributed effectively.

2. Remember to include all remixes and edits as alternative titles when registering works.

3. Remember to include titles of works in exactly the same form as they appear on iTunes, Beatport or any other streaming service. For example, if a track is on iTunes as Big Dance Hit (Huge DJ Remix),we would suggest that you register a work with Big Dance Hit as the original title and Big Dance Hit (Huge DJ Remix) as an alternative title. If the work is already registered this may create a duplicate entry on the system – don’t worry! These works will be merged before any money is distributed. We are currently working on changes to the system so that, in many instances, works will be automatically updated.

4. You should submit your set list for all live events you DJ at via the gigs and clubs scheme and online live performance reporting service. You will get paid for any of your own works and your fellow writers will get paid for their works.

5. We would also recommend that set lists are submitted from international gigs when you expect us to collect on your behalf, particularly in countries where dance music is popular such as the US or Germany. Royalties may only be paid after a set list is submitted.

6. You should also check the unclaimed performance tools on our website to claim any additional royalties you may be owed.

Early next year, we’ll be introducing the ability to enter full performer and ISRC information for your works. This should greatly increase our matching accuracy especially for dance music where many works are released under a DJ/producer’s performer name. We will update you with more details on this change in the coming months.
